Recently in Brazil, protests went up against the money spent on a new soccer stadium for the upcoming Fifa World Cup. People felt that the government was wasting money, and instead could have used it to go towards things that were much more needed, like education, healthcare and transportation. The Protests were also about how high the cost of living and transportation was, the low budget of education, and the low quality of public services. The people started to have a lack of trust in the government, because they felt that the government was spending too much money on stuff that wasn't needed. They felt that the government should have saved the money, and spent it on something that would benefit the people of the country directly. When the government didn't do anything to satisfy the country, the people started to protest against the governments ways. The government, however, responded with the reduction of some transportation fees and the increase of the education budget.

Political Instability in Latin American countries has also been caused by the economic inequality that has created huge poverty and inequality. Growth of population, but no growth of development causes an unequal income, which can only be fixed with the development of the country, which would create more jobs for the growing number of people. The lack of development in Bolivia is a perfect example. The people of Bolivia are facing large amounts of unemployment, stagflation, and lower standard of living since 1999. Bolivia desperately needs an economic reform, but they cannot do so until their country develops enough to fit it's growing population. The under development of South American countries has caused them to depend on outside forces for its income.
Overall, political instability in South American countries is a huge issue. Until South American countries can stabilize their governments and people, The country will struggle with problems concerning their society.
